Amare leads Phoenix to third win in a row

PHOENIX - Amare Stoudemire had 36 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots and the Phoenix Suns won their third in a row while snapping Golden State’s three-game winning streak Thursday night with a 123-115 victory over the Warriors.

Victoria’s Steve Nash had 21 points - including eight in a row in a big fourth-quarter stretch- and 13 assists. Raja Bell had 18 points, Boris Diaw 16 and Leandro Barbosa 14. Nash and Bell both were 4-of-6 on three-pointers. The Suns made 12-of-24 threes, 7-of-12 in the second half.

Baron Davis scored 38, two shy of his career high, for the Warriors, who lost for only the second time in nine games. Golden State had won three straight against Phoenix.

The Suns improved to 6-6 since Shaquille O’Neal joined their lineup to pull within a game of New Orleans for the No. 5 spot in the Western Conference. Golden State lost for only the second time in nine games to fall 1 1/2 games behind No. 7 Dallas and two games ahead of No. 9 Denver.
